Because Petals Fall

This piece was written at the most seminal period of my life as a composer, Tanglewood, BUTI. At my time at tanglewood I discovered who I was as an artist. To honor that, this work contains a quotation from the first piece of music I ever remember listening to and loving, Dvoraks New World Symphony. Specially, the quotation is from the second movement. The title of the work is in reference to the Cherry Blossom trees’ cycle of shedding and growing blossoms. I thought it made a good analogy for my life as a composer and the lives of many of my peers.
